That’s what you’d call an insane wig.
Long time no film.
Uhm… I haven’t seen any of the more well-known Park Chan-wook films, but this one is kinda weird. Probably made even weirder by me scaling the cocktail after how much juice two thirds of a cucumber gives (in the juicer). Which is quite a lot. So not completely sober by the end of the film.
It’s about some very kooky people in an insane asylum. All the actors ham it up to the max. No scenery was left unchewed. But it’s kinda fun.
Relentlessly stylish and kinda sweet. But, it’s, er, not a very advanced look at psychiatric problems.
I’m A Cyborg, But That’s OK. Chan-wook Park. 2006. South Korea.
South Korea:
Makan’s Seoul Slinger
- 4 parts light (silver) rum
- 4 parts spiced rum
- 1 part maraschino liquor
- 3 parts orgeat syrup
- 3 parts cucumber juice
- 4 parts pineapple juice
- 2 dashes orange bitters
Shake with ice. Pour over ice and garnish with orange, pineapple and cucumber slices.
I didn’t expect this to be any good, but it’s… uhm… something.
