Colours are difficult

A month ago, I got a proper workbench. And then I took a li’l Gary Panter painting that I have and had it printed as a vinyl stick-on thing to put at the end of the workbench (because it was looking too institutional).

But — as you can see — they (I used Myposter) totally got the colours wrong. Well, actually — the blue is on point, but the green has turned into a sort of teal. Phooey!

And that particular shade of teal is the exact colour that things that have been sun-bleached get, so it feels it’s been pre-destroyed.

So I ordered a new one from a German company, Myfolie, thinking that surely Germans get colours right. I mean, just think of all the famous German painters and decorators. Like… uhm… errr…

OK OK, but perhaps Germans have the correct RGB to CMYK formulas at least?

Today I got the answer in the mail:

Yes! The cats are green! (Oh, in case you didn’t get it, it’s a painting of cats. Clearly!)

Tada! Well… actually… I think they printed it slightly darker than the original painting is? And it’s very shiny? But it’s fine, it’s fine.

The old vinyl peeled off very easily — it had come loose on the corners on its own, so that’s another bad thing about Myposter’s product. Anyway, that allows me to compare easily. See? SEE?!?!

Anyway, this is the most important thing to happen this week.

(Belated congratulations!)
