May Music

Music I’ve bought in May.

Hey, I bought a lot of stuff this month. Let’s see…

Kim Gordon - “PLAY ME” (Official Video)

I’ve seen lots of people dismiss the new Kim Gordon album like “well, the previous album was amusing and stuff, but now there’s a new one with the same thing?! WE”RE DISAPPOINT!!1!” But it’s so wrong. The new album is nothing like the previous album. The new album is pure genius. Almost every single track is a banger.

Prostitute - Judge (Official Video)

The Prostitute album is really good. Which reminds me that I’ve also got an album by WHORES:

WHORES. - MENTAL ILLNESS AS MATING RITUAL

And Sex Worker:

Sex Worker - Tough Love

Anyway!

Irreversible Entanglements - Keep Going (Audio) ft. MOTHERBOARD

The new Irreversible Entanglements album is… well, it’s disappointing. I mean, it’s fine, I like it — but previous albums were so exciting, and this is just… fine…

Ninajirachi - iPod Touch (Official Video)

The Ninajirachi album is so much fun. Lots of crunchy hyperpopish things, but also:

Ninajirachi - Sing Good (Official Audio)

Awww. That such a sweet song.

Peaches - No Lube So Rude (Official Music Video)

The new Peaches album is the filthiest thing ever. But is it good? Hm…

The Awakening - Mirage - Full Album

The Black Jazz sampler album from Soul Jazz records is insanely good.

On the first of May, I watched some old concert footage of Veslefrikk, and I decided to buy all their albums. They’re great — their first album is obviously very Tom Robinson Band influenced, but with more strident lyrics. Typical sample:

But what they call freedom
Is their freedom
To subjugate uuuuuus

I love it.

I also got this…

Which is notable for the liner notes, which describe the instruments in detail…

And is very informative.

I’ve also been buying 70s “music oriented radio” music lately, like… Joan Armatrading? But I may have gone one step too far with this British compilation of music popular on BBC early morning radio.

It’s horrible! It’s like the worst “uplifting” music ever. I hate it!

You Belong to Me (2015 Remaster)

But OK — I can’t argue with this one. It’s pretty magical.

OK, that’s it. It’s been a busy month.
