February Music

Music I’ve bought in February.

Another month where I haven’t really bought much music.

I’ve continued to buy albums that Bill Nelson had been involved with, like Gary Numan’s Warriors:

Unfortunately, Numan and Bill Nelson quarrelled during the Warriors recording sessions; both artists had different ideas as to how the album should sound, and differing philosophies on music in general. Numan later recalled:

It seemed as though our reasons for even breathing were completely opposed to one another. At one point we were talking about why we were in the business…[Nelson] told me that all creative people pick up beams of inspiration from across the cosmos and we channel it into creative art and we do what we do for the people. I said, ‘That’s complete bollocks,’ and it all went downhill from then on really, as we began to grate on each other quite badly.

Heh heh.

But… I really like the album — it’s a slinky funk/pop thing, and sounds extremely 1983.

I don’t think Bill Nelson was involved with these two, but half of Japan were, and they’re kinda neat.

Yukihiro Takahashi – Walking to the Beat (Official Music Video)

See? Also very much of its age. It’s fun.

And I was looking through the list of all things produced by Conny Plank, and I happened upon this album by Gabi Delgado that I didn’t knew existed. He’s the vocalist from Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft, so I had to have it, of course.

Gabi Delgado - History of a Kiss

Is it any good? I don’t know, but I like it.

But enough with all that 80s music! I also bought 60s music.

Oh, and something new:

“Maetl” by Autechre, solo guitar

Shane Parish’ album of acoustic guitar covers of Autechre songs sounds like a gimmick, but it’s beautiful.

Pram - Pram/Iron Lung

Oh, and I finally bought Iron Lung by Pram, and listening to it was like *gasp*: Because somebody made me a mixtape back in the 90s when we were all exchanging tapes and they didn’t write what this track was. I’ve always thought it sounded Pram-like, but I thought I’d bought everything they’d done without finding it, so it had remained a mystery. Until finally Pram put this on their bandcamp this week. Nice!
