Twitter Account Probably Going Away

As noted everywhere on the interwebs today, Twitter is going to shut down all free access to their APIs. And since WordPress uses the API to automatically post links to articles on this blog, I guess this means that this will stop working.

The lowest paid API access level is $150 per month. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So the Elmo Twit Apocalypse is proceeding pretty much like expected, only stupider. But if you want to keep up with my deathless prose and inherently interesting nattering about comics, I’ve tied this blog to Mastodon instead: https://mstdn.party/@larsmagne23. So you can use that to get notifications instead of on Twitter.

(I wouldn’t be terribly surprised if Twitter reverses this decision in a couple of days, though. I.e., a new tweet that says “we never said that”, because it’ll probably impact both tweet volume and “engagement” significantly, and nobody wants to see numbers go down. (I think “number go up” is the entire idea behind cryptocurrencies.) How can you live without the DMV bot? Well, you use Mastodon.)
