Hm… This sort of playful artsy fartsy film is right up my alley, but I just didn’t feel it. So I instead spent most of the time wondering why the scenes just didn’t connect (for me). Some of the actors are really good (the mother and the boy) and some are kinda meh (that scraggly-bearded one)… The cinematography is good… The editing is fun…
Perhaps it’s all the macho posturing and the way everybody goes all overwraught at the drop of a hot.
It’s like it’s almost great but instead it’s just annoying.
A Wonderful Night in Split. Arsen A. Ostojic. 2004. Croatia.
Crocktail
- 5 parts maraschino liqueur
- 3 parts lemon juice
- 3 parts cherry juice
Build the cocktail in a long drink glass over ice and stir. Garnish with orange rind and a cherry.
Oops! That was supposed to be sour cherry juice, and I had sweet cherry syrup…
Oh, well.
