For as long as I can remember, I’ve had to type in my mobile phone number manually when buying plane tickets from SAS (Scandinavian Airlines). So I thought I’d look into just why.
So, OK, there really is no phone number in my registration data. Which makes sense — I’ve had this account since the ancien régime, the *shiver* pre-mobile phone era. Aka “the early 90s”.
But it should be easy enough to add one? Clicky “Edit information”.
OK, then there’s a separate form for changing the “important stuff”. *click*
But, no, that one doesn’t allow me to add a phone number — just to change my name. And I’m guessing this is because I don’t have a phone number registered, so I can’t change it? Makes sense, huh?
Just in case there’s a second form after this, I tried uploading a passport, but the “Save Changes” button doesn’t work unless I’ve changed something…
So back to the previous form.
“Update Changes” *click*
Then I get:
Yeah, exactly — it sent a verification code to “undefined”.
Which means I didn’t get the code.
And which also means that I have to call customer service on the phone? I think? LIKE AN ANIMAL
(I’m also getting a deja vu while writing this — did I already attempt to do this via customer service, and failed? Hm…)
Anyway, I guess having a customer account without a mobile phone number is just so unthinkable that they’ve never tested this situation, or thought about it.
